As one of the world's largest government-funded healthcare programs, it aims to provide comprehensive health coverage to the economically disadvantaged sections of society. Through Ayushman Bharat Yojana, millions of Indians now have access to quality healthcare services without the burden of exorbitant medical expenses.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is a comprehensive healthcare scheme that aims to provide financial protection and access to quality healthcare services to the economically disadvantaged sections of society in India.
- The scheme provides health insurance coverage of up to INR 5 lakh per family per year, ensuring that beneficiaries have access to a wide range of medical treatments, including surgeries, diagnostics, medicines, and follow-up care.
- The identification of beneficiaries is based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) database, which identifies eligible families and vulnerable occupational categories. This ensures that the benefits reach those who need them the most.
- Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY (आयुष्मान भारत योजना) offers cashless treatment to beneficiaries at empanelled hospitals and healthcare facilities across India. This eliminates the need for upfront payment and reduces the financial burden on families seeking medical care.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) or Ayushman Bharat scheme, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to several healthcare benefits.
